dermal filler for plump lips

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal filler is a type of cosmetic injectable that can help to diminish the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and other types of facial folds. It is often used in conjunction with other types of cosmetic treatments, such as Botox injections to achieve desired results. Dermal fillers can be used to treat a number of different areas on the face, including tear troughs around the eyes, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and lips. Injections typically take only minutes to complete and require very little downtime afterward. Results from treatment can last for several months or even years before touch-ups may be necessary.

Types of Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers offer a temporary solution that can help plump up the skin and give it more volume. There are many types of dermal fillers available on the market today, each made from different materials and designed to treat different areas of the face. The most common type of filler is made from hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid fillers are typically used to treat wrinkles around the mouth and nose, as well as to plump up lips. Other popular types of dermal fillers include those made from calcium hydroxyapatite and poly-L-lactic acid. The length of time that dermal fillers last will vary depending on the type of filler used as well as the area where it was injected. Fillers made from hyaluronic acid typically last for 12 to 24 months before they need to be replaced, while those made from calcium hydroxyapatite can last for 2 years or more. It is important to note that dermal fillers are not permanent solutions; eventually, your body will absorb them, and you will need to have additional treatments to maintain your results.

Side Effects

The most common side effect associated with dermal fillers is bruising or swelling at the injection site. Other potential side effects include infection, allergic reaction, and temporary numbness or tingling. These side effects are usually mild and resolve on their own within a few days. However, if you experience any of these symptoms, you should contact your doctor immediately.

Cost

Dermal fillers cost will depend on the type of filler used, as well as the amount of syringe needed to achieve desired results. For example, fillers for lips or nose sculpting may only require one syringe whereas a bigger treatment area may require more. Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of dermal fillers because they are considered cosmetic procedures.
