How does Profhilo work?
Profhilo Malaysia is made up of 2 types of Hyaluronic acid(HA) which are low and high molecular weight HA. This hybrid HA allows it to be released slowly and lasts 8 times longer than regular HA. It is injected using the Bio-Aesthetic Point(BAP) technique which is unique to Profhilo because it helps to optimize placement of HA into the skin.
HA will immediately attract water molecules and hold onto it. With this abundance of water available, it increases skin hydration so the skin will look plump and supple.
The gradual spread of HA ensures that even the deeper layers of the skin come in contact with its benefits. This then stimulates and encourages the production of the body’s own collagen and elastin. As a result, the skin will look lifted, firm and less wrinkled.

The recommended profhilo treatment regime is 2 sessions with a gap of 4 to 6 weeks between each session. Then, this cycle can be repeated after 4 to 6 months for maintenance.
The BAP technique is a sequence of 5 injection sites on each side of the face. It was developed using CT scans to produce the most effective and even spread of the Profhilo.
The five key points on the face include the area next to the ears, the nasolabial fold (laughter lines near the mouth), chin, under the eyes, and top of the cheeks. It makes the treatment more comfortable and faster as only 5 injection points are needed on each side of the face.
The only similarity between Profhilo and Dermal filler is the component, Hyaluronic acid(HA). Profhilo is made up of 100% pure HA whereas Dermal filler’s main ingredient is HA.
Profhilo and Dermal filler differ in texture and function. The texture of Profhilo is runny so it helps to spread evenly under the skin and immediately refreshes and plumps the skin from within. Dermal filler is thicker so it stays where it is placed and it is used for shaping and volumizing a specific area.
Profhilo treatment is very safe due to the high purity of the product and absence of additives. As with any injectable product there is always a risk of bruising. There may be some swelling, redness or soreness at the injection sites which normally resolves within a few hours. In some cases this may last for around 24 hrs.
- Avoid wearing make-up for at least 24 hours
- Avoid strenuous exercise (gym, swimming, extreme sports) and saunas for at least 24 hours
- Avoid excessive sunlight for 48 hours and wear a high SPF sunscreen.
