How it works
How does Subcision work?
A tri-beveled hypodermic needle is carefully inserted into the skin beneath the scar. The sharp edge of the needle is used to break the fibrotic strands that tether the scar to the underlying tissue. These fibrotic strands are a result of the inflammatory acne process and remain after the healing phase. Releasing these strands can initiate the skin’s natural healing process and support collagen production. This process may reduce the appearance of scars, resulting in smoother and more even-looking skin.
About subcision
What condition it treats
Acne scars are the result of inflammatory acne. The body produces too little collagen to repair the skin resulting in depressed scars that persists long after the acne resolves. Subcision involves inserting a small needle to break apart the fibrotic strands that pulls down the scar.
Wrinkles are the lines and creases that form in the skin. Some wrinkles may become deeper and more noticeable over time as collagen production decreases. Subcision helps break apart the fibrotic strands that contribute to deepening wrinkles and support collagen production.
