Dr Ling’s journey into aesthetics began not in a cosmetic clinic, but in the Plastic Surgery Department of a public hospital, where he spent 2½ years working extensively with burn patients, facial trauma, wound care, skin grafting and scar management. It was here that he developed a deep understanding of how skin and tissue heal, while refining the precision and fine hand skills that continue to shape his work as an aesthetic doctor today.

That experience also sparked a lasting interest in scar treatment and skin recovery. Seeing patients recover from serious wounds made Dr Ling believe that treatment should go beyond simply healing an injury. Where possible, it should also help patients regain confidence in how they look. This passion later became an important part of his work in acne scar treatment and aesthetic scar management.

After leaving public service, Dr Ling spent over two years undergoing intensive aesthetic training in Korea. Instead of short courses, he chose a more hands-on path, joining hospital rotations that covered facial anatomy, injectables, lasers, and a wide range of aesthetic procedures. He also took part in cadaveric anatomy sessions and trained closely under experienced doctors. This helped him gain a clear, practical understanding of the face’s layers and structure, knowledge he believes is essential for safe and precise aesthetic treatments. He later furthered his training through structured programs and certifications with the Korea College of Cosmetic Surgery (KCCS) and the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM), strengthening his commitment to international standards in aesthetic medicine.

Since 2008, Dr Ling has dedicated his practice to aesthetic medicine. His experience eventually led him beyond treating patients to training other doctors. Since 2012, he has been invited to speak and teach across Asia on topics including scar management, facial anatomy and injectable techniques. Yet despite years of clinical practice and teaching, he continues to approach medicine as a lifelong student, constantly learning, refining and improving his techniques.

His Approach to Aesthetic Medicine

Today, Dr Ling believes good aesthetic treatment starts with careful assessment and planning. Every patient has different facial features, skin conditions, concerns and goals, which is why he does not believe in a one size fits all approach.

His philosophy is centred on precision, restraint and natural looking results. Rather than changing how someone looks, his aim is to enhance their features in a way that remains subtle, balanced and true to the individual.

For Dr Ling, experience does not mean there is nothing left to learn. It means knowing how important it is to keep refining his work, so that every patient who places their trust in his hands receives the benefit of everything he has learned along the way.
