What’s The Difference Between Rhinoplasty and Septoplasty

Rhinoplasty and septoplasty are two of the most common facial procedures performed by plastic surgeons. Both procedures can be performed to improve the appearance of the nose, but they have different purposes. If you are considering having surgery on your nose, you should consult with a facial plastic surgeon. They will be able to evaluate your nose and determine which procedure is right for you.

Septoplasty is a surgery that is performed to correct a deviated septum. A deviated septum is a condition in which the bone and cartilage that separate the nostrils are crooked. This can cause difficulty breathing and may also contribute to snoring.

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that is performed to change the size, shape, or angle of the nose. This can be done for cosmetic reasons or to correct a breathing problem. It can also be performed to correct a birth defect or injury.

Rhinoplasty is a more invasive procedure than septoplasty. It requires incisions inside the nose, while septoplasty only requires an incision on the outside of the nose. Rhinoplasty also has a longer recovery time than septoplasty. Most people who have rhinoplasty surgery will need to take about two weeks off from work or school to recover. Septoplasty patients can usually return to their normal activities within a week. Rhinoplasty is a more expensive procedure than septoplasty.

Both rhinoplasty and septoplasty are effective procedures that can improve the appearance and function of the nose. The best way to determine which procedure is right for you is to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon.
