How it works

How does Rhinoplasty work?

There are 2 approaches to rhinoplasty nose surgery. It is important to choose an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon as every single nose differs in shape, size and structure.

  • Closed Rhinoplasty (with silicone implant)

This is the most common approach as it is simple with shorter surgical duration. A small incision is made inside the nostril and a silicone implant is inserted to increase the height of the tip, radix and bridge. The whole procedure is done via the small incision. Hence, the skin on the outside of the nose is unaffected.

  • Open Rhinoplasty

This is the ideal method as it offers the surgeon full access to the internal structures of the nose. An incision is made across the columella and the skin is raised to reveal all nose bone and cartilages. Bony contouring, cartilage reshaping or addition of grafts are performed based on the patient’s concerns and expectations. Open rhinoplasty is recommended in more complex cases.
