What causes it

What causes Single Eyelid?

Single eyelids are generally caused by genetics. They are found in about 50% of people of Asian descent. However, other races may also have a single eyelid or an eyelid shape without a crease.

While single eyelids can occur normally within large populations, it is also associated with various medical conditions that lead to the malformation or underdevelopment of the nasal bridge. For this reason, single eyelids are prominent in around 60% of individuals with the condition Down syndrome.

The aim of treatment is to craft a subtle and natural looking double eyelid that is most suited for an Asian face.

Treatment Options

Double eyelid creation is a procedure to create an upper eyelid crease to make it more defined or to consolidate multiple creases. The procedure is performed by tightening or removing excessive fat and/or skin from upper eyelids giving the appearance of bigger eyes and a more alert look.
